It’s been four years since Audi presented the fourth generation of its A4 series, which means it’s time for the Ingolstadt-based automaker to present a mid-life nip-and-tuck for the premium model that is available in sedan, Avant (estate) and Allroad Quatro body styles.

On this occasion, we’ve snagged photos of a prototype of the facelifted A4 Allroad Quattro during testing in Europe. Even though Audi’s engineers have covered up the test model in swirly patterns, we can see that the changes will be concentrated up front and at the back.

The recently updated A5 and S5 models give us a pretty good idea of what to expect from all variants of the A4 facelift.

The front end of the premium model will feature new headlamp and bumper designs along with the German firm’s revised six-point grille. As is the case with the current Allroad Quattro, the crossover model will receive a bespoke version of the grille and a beefed up bumper with a protection plate.

At the rear end, there are new tail lamp graphics and possibly some minor alterations to the bumper design.

We expect to see the A4 Allroad Quattro making its world premiere along with the A4 saloon and Avant sometime next year.
