Chances are that you have played, or at least heard of, Nintendo’s Mario Bros video game and its numerous variations. One of them is Mario Kart in which the virtual plumber gets to race (what else?) go-karts.
A Japanese car site called Cliccar decided to bring the video game into the real world. Thus, they got dressed up as Mario and his brother, Luigi, got into two X-Karts and drove around the streets of Tokyo, creating quite a fuss.
Before you watch the video, you might want to know what an X-Kart is. It’s a 95 kg (209 pound) kart that can be tuned to achieve a top speed of 80 km/h (50mph), up from the standard model’s 35 mph (55 km/h). It is street legal and can be driven with a regular driver’s license; therefore no helmet is required as in normal go-karts.
