Less than 24 hours after we brought you the first official images of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe, which gave us a partial sneak peak of the revamped sports car, and a whole bunch of pictures detailing the rear-wheel drive model inside and out appeared on the South Korean forum, Hankyung.
While we’ve already told you about the exterior updates that include the more aggressive nose that’s draws on the Veloster for inspiration along with redesigned tail lamps and a reshaped boot lid at the back, these photos provide a first glimpse of the interior.
Whereas the shape of the dashboard and instrument panel remain the same, the design of the center and lower console including the infotainment screen are brand new. Hyundai has completely revamped the air-conditioning and audio systems and has added three gauges right under the radio controls.
It should be noted that the car you see here is a South Korean specification model, but these changes are most likely to pass on the North American version as well.
The pictures also confirm our suspicions that Hyundai would replace the current model’s regular 3.8-liter V6 with the newer and more advanced V6 powerplant of the same displacement but with direct injection (GDI) technology, as it did on the facelifted 2012 Genesis sedan earlier this year.
Logically, the 3.8-liter V6 GDI should deliver the same 333-horses and 291 lb.-ft. of torque that it does on the Genesis sedan. The current 3.8-liter V6 produces 306HP and 266 lb.-ft.
Furthermore, in addition to a 6-speed manual gearbox, the GDI will most likely be offered with Hyundai’s newer 8-speed automatic transmission instead of the current model’s 6sp unit.
