Just days after Audi pulled the wraps off its new five-door premium supermini named the A1 Sportback, and the Ingolstadt-based automaker came out with full pricing on the UK market model.

On-the-road prices will start from £13,980 and top out at £21,270, which represent a £560 premium model-for-model over three-door A1. First deliveries will begin in the spring of 2012.

The Sportback will launch with the same engine lineup as the three-door model initially featuring a choice of three petrol engines – the 1.2-litre TFSI with 86PS, 1.4-litre TFSI with 122PS and the 1.4-litre twin-charge TFSI with 185PS, plus one diesel, the 1.6-litre TDI producing 105PS.

A 2.0-liter TDI rated at 143PS will extend the range in the summer of 2012. This new turbo diesel, which was only just introduced into the three-door A1 line-up, will propel the A1 Sportback to 62mph (100km/h) in 8.5 seconds, while returning 68.9mpg UK on the combined cycle test.

There are three available trim levels, SE, Sport and S-Line, with standard features across the range including alloy wheels, split/folding rear seat, front and rear electric windows, air conditioning, single CD audio system with MP3 compatibility, ESP with latest differential lock system.

The Sport model adds larger 16-inch wheels, sports suspension, sports seats, Bluetooth mobile phone preparation and a Driver’s Information System, while the S line versions further improve the standard equipment with the S line exterior treatment, larger 17-inch alloy wheels, S line sports suspension and leather and cloth combination upholstery.
