Power is the name of the game when it comes to UK tuning firm BBR that has just released a newly developed range of engine and suspension upgrade packages for the Mazda3 and Mazda6 MPS models (named MAZDASPEED3 and MAZDASPEED6 respectively in North America).
Since the two Mazda models are powered by the same 2.3-liter turbocharged four-pot, BBR’s engine kits apply to both vehicles.
There are three available engine packages. Priced at £549, the entry-level Stage 1 kit includes a reprogrammed ECU that lifts output from 256bhp and 280 lb.ft to 290bhp at 5,200 rpm and 330 lb.ft. at 4,150 rpm.
The second stage conversion adds several goods such as new turbo inlet hoses and downpipes plus a custom exhaust system that push performance numbers to 318bhp at 6,580 rpm and 370 lb.ft at 3,900-4,300 rpm. It is priced at £1645 with a fitting charge of £395.
The third and most aggressive tuning option enhances the stage 2 conversion kit with a new front mounted intercooler, and a choice of two different turbochargers, a BBR Turbo that raises output to 350bhp and a Garret hybrid GT28 turbocharger that allows for up to 400bhp. BBR did not disclose prices for the Stage 3 kits.
Along with the power enhancements, BBR also offers a performance spring kit (DIY Price £165.00, fitting charge £300.00, including a full geometry setup), and a Koni adjustable dampers (DIY Price £795.00, fitting charge £300.00, including full geometry setup) for the Mazda3 MPS.
Note that all the aforementioned prices do not include VAT.
