The third Suzuki concept model to be revealed at the upcoming 2011 Tokyo Motor Show at the end of the month after the Regina city car and the tiny Q-Concept is the Swift EV Hybrid.

Based on the latest generation of the Swift supermini, the EV Hybrid concept makes use of a similar powertrain setup featuring a range-extender gasoline engine to the Chevrolet Volt.

The Japanese brand says that the five-door Swift EV Hybrid can travel a distance of around 30 kilometers (~19 miles) in pure-electric mode, before the petrol engine kicks in to recharge the car’s batteries.

Suzuki has not yet released any more details on the powertrain.

The styling changes over the regular Swift include bespoke head- and tail-lamps, a redesigned front grille and bumper assembly, aerodynamic wheel covers, and a new instrument panel and center console. The car’s battery is located at the cargo area.
