A new special edition version of Volkswagen’s Caravelle passenger van has been introduced in the UK. The German company will produce only 225 examples of the Caravelle Edition 25 for Britain, all exclusively finished in Candy White, or an optional Reflex Silver metallic paint.

The Edition 25 comes with a host of extras and bespoke styling cues such as the revised front bumper with contrasting satin black styling accents in the lower sections, xenon headlights with LED running lights and black highlights along the length of the vehicle and on the roof, side sills and the tailgate.

The van rides on a new set of satin black 18-inch ‘Edition 25’ design alloy wheels.

Inside the cabin, the six-passenger model adds several goods to the SE specification upon which it is based, including three-zone ‘Climatronic’ air conditioning, voice activated satellite navigation and Bluetooth telephone preparation, parking sensors with reversing camera, and VW’s Lane Change Assist system that monitors the vehicle’s blind spots.

The Edition 25 also gets electric sliding doors with power-latching on each side of the vehicle and a two-tone leather interior.

Power comes from VW’s 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo common rail diesel engine that delivers 180-horsepower and is coupled to a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission. The base model has front-wheel drive with VW offering the option of a 4MOTION all-wheel drive system.

VW says the Edition 25 accelerates from zero to 62mph (96km/h) in 11.3 seconds (4MOTION: 12.1 seconds), and reaches a top speed of 119 mph – 191km/h (4MOTION: 117mph – 188km/h).

The people carrier returns 34.9 mpg UK (4MOTION: 32.1 mpg UK) on the combined cycle with CO2 emissions of 214 g/km (4MOTION: 232).

The Caravelle Edition 25 is priced from £44,995 on the road (including VAT).
