The time for the return of the Dodge Viper after a two-year hiatus is almost up. In fact, we’ll get our first look at the Chrysler Group’s next halo car as early as next April at the 2012 New York International Auto Show.
Chrysler’s SRT Brand President and CEO Ralph Gilles made the revelation in an interview with Viper magazine, while Automobile Magazine says that it has also confirmed the news with its sources at Dodge.
Up until now, Dodge has given out very few details about the new iteration of the Viper saying that it will appeal to “a broader segment of the market” while also remaining attractive to purists.
An improved version of the previous model’s V10 should find its way under the long hood of the next Viper, possibly with an even larger displacement and of course, more power.
There have been plenty of rumors going around that the Viper will be based on a modified platform that will be shared with at least one other vehicle from the Fiat Group’s stable –think Alfa Romeo- but this has not been confirmed by company officials.
