Our crafty spy shooters turned to video mode to capture the upcoming 2012 Mercedes-Benz A-Class model during winter testing in Europe.
The prototypes retain the usual camouflage though the video footage provides a better view of the new A-Class model’s proportions and stance.
For the third generation A-Class, Mercedes-Benz has changed the formula switching to a regular platform and a traditional five-door body style that will be followed later on by a three-door model, which will resemble the A-Class Concept shown in New York and Shanghai last year.
Merc’s premium compact hatch will go toe-to-toe with the BMW 1-Series and Audi A3 models offering buyers several engine choices including a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol in 122HP and 156HP guises, and a 1.8-liter common rail turbodiesel available with 109HP and 136HP.
In due course, the Germans will present an AMG model likely to be fitted with 2.0-liter turbocharged four with as much as 300-ponies.
