While all cameras where flashing around the impressive LF-LC sports concept, Lexus quietly rolled out an updated version of its LX 570 full-size luxury SUV for the 2013 model year.
The 2013 LX 570 receives the new Lexus family look, which was introduced on the third-generation GS sedan. The styling revisions include a new “spindle” grille, redesigned headlights and larger fog lamp bezels, turn signals integrated in the side mirrors, revised bumpers on both ends, a new number plate surround and updated tail lamp graphics.
The cabin of the 8-seater model gets a redesigned instrument panel and a color display as well as mahogany wood trim and a new shade for the leather upholsteries. On the driver’s side, the new Easy Access system that retracts the steering wheel when the ignition key is turned off makes exit and entry easier, while both front seats feature improved cooling.
The LX 570 is powered by a 5.7-liter V8 with an output of 383HP and 403 lb-ft (545.7 Nm) of peak torque. Power is transferred to all four wheels though a six-speed automatic gearbox with a Torsen limited-slip locking differential. Under normal conditions the torque split is 40:60 front:rear, but when wheelspin is detected then the A-TRAC traction control and the VSC stability control intervene to maintain vehicle stability.
A new feature on the 2013 LX is the Turn Assist that applies more brake force to the inside rear wheel in order to tighten the SUV’s turning circle. The Adaptive Variable suspension has three modes (Comfort, Normal and Sport). It also features an Active Height Control system, which lowers the suspension automatically by two inches to help exit and entry and returns automatically to its normal height when the vehicle begins to accelerate.
The LX 570 comes equipped with 10 airbags that cover all three rows of seats, active front headrests, a pre-collision system with Dynamic Radar cruise control, four-zone climate control, reversing camera, and a navigation system and a premium audio system with nine speakers and iPod/USB and Bluetooth connectivity.
