There’s a lot of blame going around over the bleak outcome of the efforts to save Saab, but life goes on and so does the liquidation of the Swedish company’s assets including the collection of vehicles from its museum, which is located at the brand’s headquarters in Trollhättan.
As we learned from the folks over at Saabsunited, Swedish law firm Delphi has posted a list of all the cars from the Saab museum that will soon go up for auction. The news is both good and bad, depending on how you look at it.
On one hand, some fans of the brand and collectors alike will have the unique opportunity to bid on production, racing and concept models that otherwise would have never been offered to the public.
On the other hand, Saab enthusiasts as well as gearheads would have surely preferred to have all the cars together in a museum where the public can see them.
Among the more than 120 Saab models that are going under the hammer are some unique concepts and historic production cars including the Swedish brand’s first automobile, the UrSaab prototype or Project 92 from 1946/1947 and the Saab Formula Junior from 1960.
There’s also the 1974 Saab 98 prototype, the 1971 Saab 99 Kombo study, the 1980 Saab 900 Safari prototype, the 1981 James Bond Saab 900 Turbo and numerous modern concepts ranging from the 1984 Saab 900 EV-1 to the 2001 Saab 9X and the Subaru Tribeca-based 9-6X prototypes in both 3- and 5-door body styles.
The collection even includes a 2006 Cadillac BLS that was based on the Saab 9-3 of the time and a Saab 9000 loading truck!
Oddly, Saab’s last concept model, the Jason Castriotta-penned PhoeniX sports coupe that was shown in Geneva last year is not included in the list.
