Maybe it’s the Mad Max syndrome, but there’s something very cool (just as long as you’re occupying front seat…) about mean looking police cars like the 2012 Dodge Charger Pursuit, which as we learned today, will pace both NASCAR Nationwide Series and Sprint Cup Series races in Phoenix on March 3 and 4.
The pace car will assume its role in full police livery on top of a matte black finish combined with white accents for the body.
“Phoenix marks our new track-proven Dodge Charger Pursuit’s inaugural pace car weekend, while highlighting the fastback sedan’s benchmark levels of performance and the Dodge brand’s 62nd year of NASCAR racing heritage,” commented Peter Grady, who is the Vice President of Network Development and Fleet for the Chrysler Group.
Dodge offers the 2012 Charger Pursuit with either a 292-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 or a 370-horsepower 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine, with the company claiming that the latter delivers the police sedan segment’s fastest acceleration times:
- 0-to-60 mph (5.83 sec)
- 0-to-70 mph (7.38 sec)
- 0-to-80 mph (9.18 sec)
- 0-to-90 mph (11.43 sec)
- 0-to-100 mph (13.65 sec)
The Detroit maker offers the Pursuit version with a choice of six factory-installed police packages, which include numerous goods such as a push bumper, front- and rear-corner LED lamps, and a siren speaker.
