While most gearheads will focus their attention on the 208 GTi Concept, Peugeot has readied a second study based on its freshly launched supermini. This one is called the 208 XY Concept and it will also debut at the 2012 Geneva Auto Salon in a couple of weeks’ time.

The 208 XY study could be Peugeot’s answer to the more upscale Citroen DS3 sub-compact model. Premium touches on the outside include a bespoke ‘Pulsion’ paintwork that Peugeot says has the ability to change color depending on the distance and the position from which it is viewed. It is created with sixteen coats of paint and lacquer.

The plush supermini rides on new 18-inch alloy wheels tucked away under subtle wheel arch extensions and features chrome decorating on the panoramic glass roof trim, while the lower window edge and the quarter panel are finished off with a special grille treatment with three horizontal chrome bars.

As you’d expect, the interior has been fully customized with crimson stitched leather making its way on the dashboard, armrests, steering wheel and gear lever, while the panoramic glass roof is edge-trimmed in black leather.

The seats are upholstered in pearl gray leather and like the GTi, the XY also gets a flat-bottom sports steering wheel. The ambient lighting on the dashboard and the special mats complete the look.

As for the powertrain, the 208 XY makes do with the regular production model’s 1.6-liter e-HDi turbo diesel with 115bhp matched to a six-speed manual gearbox.
