Following its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, the VW Group’s Seat brand has announced that the subtly refreshed Ibiza range will be available for order in Britain this month with first deliveries planned for late April.
While the updates are mild, the good news for buyers is that Seat has actually reduced pricing for the majority of Ibiza derivatives.
So while the entry-level Ibiza, the 1.2-litre 60PS E in three-door SC bodystyle, remains available at £9,995 on the road (OTR), the core basic model, the Ibiza S A/C, is offered at an average of £300 less than the outgoing S Copa editions.
The most affordable five-door Ibiza is the 1.2 70PS S /C model priced at £11,430, while the same engine is now offered on the ST (estate) body style with a starting price of £12,140.
Moving up in the range, there’s a similar £300 average price reduction on the SE trim models. Available engines include a 1.4-liter 85PS petrol, a 1.2-liter TSI 105PS, and two diesels, the 92 g/km 1.2 TDI 75 PS Ecomotive and the 1.6 TDI 105 PS.
As for the sportier FR models, the range has been widened to include turbocharged 105 PS units in both petrol and diesel forms, along with the 1.4-litre TSI 150 PS DSG-auto and 2.0-litre TDI 143 PS turbodiesel with savings of up to £1,100 over the previous model. For the first time, the FR grade will be available on the Ibiza ST (station wagon).
The styling changes for the 2012 Ibiza include a more sculptured front end with reshaped headlamps, redesigned tail lamps with LED units on the FR models, and new gloss black ‘B’ and ‘C’ pillars for the Ibiza 5dr and ST variants.
Inside, there’s new typography on the instrument dials, a refreshed climate control display, different steering wheels and an enlarged glove-box.
