Perhaps surprisingly to some, but not so much to others, the McLaren MP4-12C has captured the attention of many tuners at this year’s Geneva Auto Salon.

After Wheelsandmore, Mansory and FAB Design, German tuning outfit Gemballa has also presented its take on the British supercar. This is the first time that Gemballa has tuned a McLaren model.

“McLaren’s lightweight construction philosophy, exclusivity and client profile are a perfect fit for our own philosophy,” says the German company’s Managing Director, Andreas Schwarz.

“Our challenge was to imbue the missing emotion into the GEMBALLA GT version of the MP4-12C. Our starting point is an aerodynamic styling kit and ultra-light forged alloy wheels, and we are developing an engine upgrade programme as well,” Schwarz added.

So until Gemballa readies its power kit for the McLaren’s 591bhp bi-turbo 3.8-litre V8 motor, customers will have to make do with a new aerodynamic package that consists of a new front bumper and spoiler, side skirts, a rear apron and a discrete rear wing, plus new 20-inch alloy wheels up front and 21-inch at the rear.

The Geneva show car also features some minor updates inside such as the carbon trim and Gemballa-badged steering wheel.
