It seems like only yesterday that Honda presented the Accord Crosstour, which soon after dropped its Accord moniker and is now simply known as the Crosstour.

To be precise, it’s been two years and a couple of months since its market launch in the States, which is very short time in automotive years, but not soon enough for a replacement if you ask (most) Honda fans.

Today we learn that Honda has green lighted a successor based on the soon-to-be revealed ninth generation Accord, the coupe version of which was previewed through a concept model at this year’s Detroit Motor Show.

In a similar fashion, Honda will unveil a concept version of the crossover model at the 2012 New York Auto Show in early April, which it says, “will reveal the exterior styling direction of the updated 2013 Crosstour”.

This past January, Honda added a lower priced and more fuel efficient four-cylinder version to the current Crosstour’s lineup, but the move doesn’t seem to be helping much.
