Less than a week after we brought the first spy photos of Mercedes-Benz’s engineers trying out a test mule of the German brand’s upcoming Citan van, our man with the long lens was able to spot the final production version.
Whereas the previous prototype featured was essentially a slightly modified Renault Kangoo, this one is a…Renault Kangoo with a Mercedes front end featuring the firm’s family grille with the star in the middle and from the little we can tell, the tail lamps as well.
For the record, Mercedes, through its teaser renderings, has promised more changes in the interior.
The new Citan will receive its world premiere at the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hannover this September and go on sale just before the end of 2012. It will be offered in a variety of body styles and lengths such as a commercial van and a people carrier (MPV).
