The sixth generation of the Chevrolet Corvette may have entered its final year of production but Detroit’s most famed sports car is making its first official appearance in South Korea.
The Corvette will go on sale in Korea on May 4. It will be offered exclusively as a coupe powered by a 430hp 6.2-liter V8 engine linked to a 6-speed automatic transmission that allows for a zero to 100km/h (62mph) sprint time of 4.3 seconds.
There are two available models, the base version priced at 86.4 million yen (US$76,300 / €57,600) and the Premium model with additional interior amenities that costs 89.4 million won (US$78,900 / €59,630).
The Corvette is the ninth model to be added to Chevrolet’s South Korean lineup after GM replaced the local Daewoo nameplate in early 2011 and following the country’s free trade agreement with the U.S.
South Korea was the first market in the world to receive the new Chevrolet Malibu sedan that is produced locally at GM Korea’s Bupyeong manufacturing plant.
