Just last week, Jaguar announced that its upcoming F-Type roadster would receive a tweaked version of the company’s new 3.0-liter supercharged V6 pumping out 375hp (380PS) and 460Nm (339 lb-ft) of peak torque.
While the British automaker has made no mention (yet) of any other powertrain being offered in the F-Type, Edmund’s InsideLine is reporting that a “very reliable source” told them that the car will also be available with Jaguar’s 5.0-liter V8.
Naturally, the source is referring to the supercharged version of the eight-cylinder unit, which produces 510-ponies in the XFR, XJ and XKR and 550-horses in the special edition XKR-S coupe and convertible models.
Based on last year’s C-X16 concept coupe, the new F-Type is scheduled to go on sale worldwide next year.
