Nissan’s presence at the ongoing 2012 New York Auto Show is marked by the world premiere of the 2013 Altima mid-size sedan, which is a very important model for the Japanese automaker.

In 2011, the current Altima ranked as the second best-selling passenger car in the U.S behind the Toyota Camry. Nissan believes that the new model can do even better.

The new Altima hits the consumer bulls-eye dead center by delivering a balance of style, performance and value that will continue to make it one of the most popular cars in America,” said the company’s CEO, Carlos Ghosn at a press conference in New York.

The 2013 Altima will arrive in showrooms this July at a starting MSRP of $21,500 and a choice of two gasoline engines, a redesigned 182-horsepower 2.5-liter four-pot and a 270hp 3.5-liter V6, both matched to a standard Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission).
