BMW Group tuning specialist Hartge has presented a new engine kit for the entry-level 116i hatchback, which in stock form, sports a 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol with TwinPower Turbo and direct injection technology delivering 134hp (136PS) at 4,400 rpm and 220Nm (162 lb-ft) from 1,350 to 4,300 rpm.
Hartge’s remapped ECU helps nudge the turbocharged unit’s peak output to 169 horsepower (171PS) at 4,400 and torque to 265Nm (195 lb-ft) at 2,000 rpm.
While the tuner does not quote 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint, it says it has shaved seven seconds off the 80-180km/h (50-112mph) time, which now stands at 20.63 seconds. Top speed remains at 210km/h (131mph).
Other available upgrades for the 116i include a lowered sports suspension, stainless steel exhaust pipes, aluminum pedals, bespoke floor mats and 19-inch alloy wheels.
