That McLaren is readying a roadster version of the MP4-12C as well as a spiritual successor to the famed F1 supercar is nothing new, but after visiting the British company’s headquarters in Woking, Car&Driver claims to have some new tidbits about the two cars.

We will begin with the open-top MP4-12C that is likely to carry the Spider moniker. The report says that this model’s debut has been confirmed for later this year, which means we could see it as early as September at the Paris Motor Show – unless McLaren prefers another event like the L.A. Auto Show.

Not surprisingly, the MP4-12C Spider will use the same 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 lump with 593hp as the coupe model.

The second new model to come from Woking is the F1’s successor, which we recently spied testing in Germany. We already know that McLaren’s flagship supercar will be powered by a heavily reworked version of the MP4-12C’s force-fed V8 and that its will feature loads of carbon fiber in its construction.

According to the magazine, McLaren is preparing a concept version of the supercar, which may debut this year but is more likely to be introduced at a major international car show in 2013.
