This past weekend, from May 11 to 13, some 30,000 Mini enthusiasts from 50 countries around the world assembled in Le Castelle, France, for the ‘MINI United 2012’ festival breaking the previous record of 25,000 attendees at last year’s MINI United at Silverstone in Great Britain.
Most fans turned up in their own regular and customized Minis with some even driving as far as 6,490 km (4,032 miles) from the outer regions of Russia to France.
The three-day festival included several racing events at the Circuit Paul Ricard, while the assembled masses were also treated to an array of sporting activities as well as live music acts with Iggy Pop, Gossip and Grammy award-nominated duo The Ting Tings.
In addition, the British carmaker took the wraps off the all-new John Cooper Works GP edition, which is claimed to be the fastest production Mini of all time.
