Only a few days before the new SL-Class hits UK dealerships, Mercedes-Benz has released pricing for the sixth generation of its luxury roadster model.
The new V6-powered SL 350 has an on-the-road price of £72,495, while the V8-powered SL 500 costs £83,445, with both models set to arrive in the UK in June 2012. They will be joined later in the year by the 530hp SL 63 AMG and the 621hp SL 65 AMG V12, with pricing for these two models to be announced closer to the launch date.
The latest iteration of the SL 350 sports a BlueDIRECT 3.5-litre V6 engine pumping out 302hp (306PS) and 370Nm (273 lb-ft) of torque at 3,500 – 5,250 rpm, accelerating from zero to 62mph (100km/h) in 5.9 seconds en route to an electronically governed top speed of 155mph (250km/h).
Mercedes-Benz says the SL 350 achieves a combined fuel economy of 37.7mpg UK and CO2 emissions of 176 g/km.
Those seeking more power can select the SL 500, which features a BlueDIRECT 5.0-liter V8 engine rated at 429hp (435PS) at 5,250 rpm and 700Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque that is available from 1,800 rpm to 3,500 rpm.
The 3,935-pound (1,785 kg) SL 500 will complete the 0 to 62 mph (100km/h) sprint in 4.6 seconds, and has an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.
According to the German automaker, the SL 500’s fuel efficiency has improved by 26 per cent over the previous model at 30.7 mpg UK on the combined cycle, with corresponding CO2 emissions of 214 g/km.
Both SL models come with a comprehensive array of standard safety and comfort features such as Attention Assist and Adaptive Brake, bi-Xenon headlamps, Magic Vision Control heated adaptive wiper system, leather sport seats and 18-inch alloy wheels.
