Not that there are significant styling differences between the original Opel Insignia and its North American clone, the Buick Regal, other than the front grille and badges, but its uncommon to find an Insignia listed for sale in the U.S., which is why this eBay sale caught our attention.
The seller claims that the 2011 Opel Insignia Turbo was imported from Germany. Here is what the listing says:
“You won’t find this elsewhere: imported from Germany, this car is properly equipped with the most desired Opel traits, including suspension and lighting – its buyer will not be disappointed. Anyone with an eye for style can certainly appreciate it.
Looks and drives perfect and gets endless attention wherever you go! It is also very fast and fuel efficient (30MPG). Total cost on this vehicle is over $40,000 so bid to win. Title has already been converted and the car can be registered in all states without a problem. It is a late production model (01/11) – Feel free to e-mail any questions.”
The car seems to tick all the Opel boxes apart from the MPH readings on the instrument panel and if we are not mistaken, the OnStar buttons on the interior mirror.
However, the VIN number (W04GX5GV7B1108843) says it’s a Buick Regal (GX) made by Opel (WO4), which was the case with the first batch of Regal sedans sold in the States before GM began North American production at its Oshawa plant in Canada.
We should also note that the seller says it has a “Rebuilt, Rebuildable & Reconstructed” vehicle title.
The asking price on eBay for the Insignia, which has 3,250 miles on the odo, is US$24,400.
