If there is one thing Germany’s premium automakers have in common, it is that they will not shy away from any segment however niche or different from their core philosophy it may be.

After breaking several taboos initially with the Cayenne SUV and the Panamera sedan, and soon enough with the Macan compact crossover, Porsche is now reported to be mulling the development of a smaller sedan along with a shooting brake variant!

The news comes from German car magazine Autobild, which says the new car is named Pajun and is expected to arrive in the market by 2017.

If true, the Pajun would be the sixth model in Porsche’s automobile lineup after the Boxster and Cayman twins, the 911 sports car series, the Cayenne SUV, the Panamera sedan and the upcoming Macan crossover.

While Porsche spokesperson Hans-Gerd Bode would not confirm the story to Reuters, he did say that there “were many ideas for a sixth model but decisions had not been taken”.

The German publication reported that Porsche would offer the Pajun in both nothchback and Shooting Brake (estate) body styles with a choice of six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines.
