Following on the heels of the Clio RS RB7 and Megane F1 specials, Renault has now applied the Red Bull Racing RB7 styling treatment on the smaller Twingo RenaultSport (RS) model as part of the celebrations for the 2011 Formula 1 Constructors’ world title.
The special edition 2012 Twingo RS Red Bull Racing RB7 is offered in a Pearlescent Black body color that contrasts with select parts finished in Sirius Yellow such as the Formula 1-style front blade, the mirror caps and the roof spoiler, while it rides on 17-inch ‘Gana’ alloy wheels.
Another bespoke feature is the RenaultSport chequered-pattern roof and door decals in the colors of the Red Bull Racing Formula 1 team.
The same two-tone color theme continues inside with the yellow stitching for the steering wheel, seats and dash cowling, and gloss black inserts for the dashboard, audio console, rev-counter housing and side air vents.
The RB7 model comes fitted as standard with Renault’s First audio system and R.S. Monitor inspired from the telemetry systems in race cars, as well as the Cup chassis that improves handling through the use of a lowered and tauter sports suspension.
Power comes from the standard 1.6-liter naturally–aspirated four cylinder engine, which produces 131bhp (133PS) at 6,750 rpm and a peak torque of 160Nm at 4,400 rpm.
“Twingo R.S. Red Bull Racing RB7 is a pocket rocket packed with performance-enhancing features developed by Renault Sport Technologies,” says Olivier Tschanhenz, Twingo Renault Sport Product Manager. “Its great looks are the fruit of Renault Sport F1’s association with Red Bull Racing.”
The limited production version of the Twingo RS will be available in more than 10 markets including, Germany, Austria, France, Belgium/Luxemburg, Japan, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Switzerland.
First deliveries are expected in September.
