The sporty looking compact sedan we initially came to know as the Mercedes-Benz CLC before the Stuttgart automaker’s design boss Gorden Wagener revealed that it would be named the CLA, has been caught once again by our spies in Germany.
Hidden under all that black camouflage is the toned down, production version of the well-received Concept Style Coupé (CSC), which Mercedes-Benz showed less than a month ago.
Rightfully described as a ‘baby’ CLS, Stuttgart’s new sedan model rides on an extended version of the new A-Class hatchback’s modular MFA platform, with which it will also share its powertrain lineup.
The engines on offer will include several turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline units and in certain markets like Europe, diesels as well, topped out by an AMG variant boasting a 2.0-liter turbo with more than 320hp and an all-wheel drive system.
The new CLA will be a global model with sales both in Europe and North America expected to start next year.
