Most bicycles are equipped with a skinny bell that will barely get you any attention in today’s congested and noisy cities.

If you feel the same way, say hello to the Hornster bicycle that features a horn that emits a jaw dropping 178 decibels, which if used in full force, could deafen a motorist, as it is said to be louder than a Concorde!

The Hornster is the creative idea of Yannick Read on behalf of the UK’s Environmental Transport Association (ETA), which wanted to raise awareness about the dangers that cyclists face on city roads.

The bicycle features an Airchime KH3A triple horn sourced from an American locomotive and which has been adapted to run off a scuba diving cylinder.

“The same quietness that makes bicycles such a civilised way of getting around makes them vulnerable to inattentive motorists – the Hornster is a wake-up call for drivers who don’t pay attention to bikes,” said Read.
