In what seems like a never-ending quest to expand its production reach to every corner of the globe, the BMW Group has confirmed rumors that it is interested in building vehicles at Mitsubishi Motors’ NedCar plant in the Netherlands.

“We’re in talks with NedCar over a third party manufacturing contract,” a BMW spokesman said on Wednesday, according to a report from Autonews.

The Bavarian firm’s spokesperson declined to provide further details on the matter.

An unconfirmed report from Dutch newspaper Dagblad De Limburger said that BMW wants to manufacture cars for its Mini brand at the plant.

Back in February, Mitsubishi Motors announced its decision to stop vehicle production at the NedCar facility at the end of 2012, some 11 years after it became the plant’s sole owner.
