After the unveiling of the regular model variants of the F-150 in Texas earlier this month, Ford has now presented the 2013 F-150 SVT Raptor that gains some minor enhancements for the new model year.

In an industry first, the latest Raptor is offered directly from the factory with beadlock-compatible alloy rims. Beadlocks secure the edges of a tire to the wheel between two surfaces to prevent the tire from rolling off the trim when the tire pressure is low.

Ford’s system is unique because it allows the owner to convert from conventional rim to beadlock by unbolting the standard outer decorative ring, dismount the tire from its regular position and then remount the tire in the lock-enabled position with the available beadlock ring kit from Ford Racing.

The 2013 model also gets available high-intensity discharge HID headlamps that are said to be brighter and whiter than standard lamps, and a revamped SYNC with MyFord Touch infotainment system with a new 4.2-inch multifunction LCD screen mounted in the instrument cluster and an 8-inch screen on the center console.

Finally, Ford has added a new Raptor-exclusive exterior color for 2013, the desert camouflage-inspired Terrain.

The SVT Raptor continues to be powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine delivering 411 horses and 434 lb.-ft. of torque, mated to an electronic six-speed automatic transmission.
