The story of Phillip Bernad is one of those that makes you question a person’s sanity and their common sense, or lack thereof.
The 32-year old man was in Community Court in San Francisco this past Tuesday for a check of his progress after an auto burglary conviction.
Even though Bernad had violated his probation by missing an earlier court appearance, Judge Lillian Sing let him off with a warning sign, while telling him that she wasn’t happy and that he “had better get into a harm reduction program and get going with a job search,” the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
So what did Bernad do right after he left court? Why, of course, he went around to the alley in the back of the courtroom and smashed a car’s rear passenger window with a weighted sock, according to the police report.
Not surprisingly, being behind a court and all, there were cops in the area who immediately arrested Bernad. The surprising part of this story came when the police officers ran the car’s plates and to their astonishment, discovered that the vehicle in question was registered to a…Judge Lillian Sing!
Now, Bernad is back in jail and faces another auto burglary charge, though this time, he will appear in Superior Court.
