Not that Mercedes-Benz is having a problem selling every C63 AMG that rolls out of the factory, but the Stuttgart-based premium carmaker wanted to treat Japanese buyers to a limited edition version specially customized for the domestic market.

In contrast to most special edition models these days that rely on added amenities at the best to stand out, the new C63 AMG Performance Studio Edition has actually been modified inside and out as well as under the hood.

The bespoke updates on the outside include a matte black finish for the body combined with new 19-inch multispoke alloy wheels in black with a red rim, a carbon trunk lid lip spoiler, unique exhaust tailpipes and red brake calipers.

The same color combination can be found inside with Mercedes-Benz designers dressing most of the interior in red and black nappa leather with red accent stitching.

Other touches include the real carbon fiber decorative trim, the hand-crafted AMG floor mats with nappa leather piping, the AMG door lock pins and the addition of a standard Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system.

AMG also provided a power upgrade for the 6.2-liter V8, bumping output from 451hp (457PS) to 480hp (487PS).

First deliveries are scheduled to start in November 2012, with pricing in Japan set at 15 million Yen (about US$192,000 or €154,400), or about 4.25 million Yen more than the regular C63 AMG sedan.
