With the presentation of the Enzo’s replacement having being confirmed for the end of 2012 by Ferrari’s Chairman Luca di Montezemolo himself, it’s actually surprising that the Italians have managed to keep the supercar under wraps for such a long time.

Today, we got word from one of our readers that a friend of a member of the Ferrarichat community snagged a very interesting prototype driving around the company’s headquarters in Maranello, Italy, and which we believe to be the next Enzo that may or may not be called the F70.

The prototype model bears both similarities and differences to previous Ferrari F70 test cars we’ve shown you over the past few months, though this particular vehicle looks like it could be more prototype and less test mule.

Nevertheless, it’s hard to say which parts of the car are production and which were placed on the vehicle as camouflage pieces to hide the true styling from prying eyes.

What’s not debatable about the next Enzo is the hybrid powertrain as it was confirmed di Montezemolo.

The Italian automaker had teased its upcoming flagship model’s hybrid powertrain at the Auto China 2012 in Beijing, earlier this year. The new drivetrain combines a naturally aspirated V12 with a dual-clutch transmission and two electric motors, one for instant power delivery and the other to power the car’s auxiliary systems.
