South Korea’s fourth largest automaker SsangYong, is adding a new lower priced 4×4 model to its recently updated Korando crossover range in Britain.
The new Korando SX 4×4 is priced from £18,795 on the road, or £2,650 less than the next all-wheel drive model in the range, the ES that starts at £21,445.
Power for the SX comes from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel delivering 147hp (149PS) at 4,000 rpm and 360Nm (265 lb-ft) of peak torque, matched to a six-speed manual transmission.
SsangYong says that the all-wheel drive Korando SX returns a combined fuel economy of 45.6 mpg UK (6.2lt/100km) with corresponding CO2 emissions of 157g/km, while providing a full two tonne towing capability.
Standard features include the Torque on Demand 4×4 system fitted to EX models along with ESP with Hill Start Assist, roof rails, tinted glass and rear parking sensors, a leather covered steering wheel and gear shift, cruise control and a Kenwood MP3 CD & RDS radio with iPod & Bluetooth, remote audio controls and six speakers.
“The new SX is in direct response to feedback from our customers who said they wanted a 4×4 crossover for less than £20,000,” said Paul Williams, CEO of SsangYong Motor UK. “The result is a car that is extremely well equipped, and at a great value price of £18,795 is 15% lower than its nearest direct competitor.”
