Even though we have come to know Väth for its wild and powerful tunes of modern Mercedes-Benz models such as the 680hp G55 AMG and the 746hp C63 AMG Coupe Black Series Edition, the German company also prides itself for its restoration business.
To show us what it can do, Väth has revealed its latest restoration project in the guise of a Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3. Codenamed W109, the full size limousine was a predecessor to the S-Class and was built from 1967 to 1972.
The German firm stripped the 300 SEL 6.3 down to the bare metal and either replaced or repaired any parts that needed fixing, including the massive 6.3-liter M100 V8 engine, which was disassembled and re-built.
Väth says the factory 6.3-liter unit produces a peak output of 247hp (250PS) at 4,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 510Nm (376 lb-ft) allowing the limo to sprint from standstill to 100km/h (62mph) in 6.5 seconds and achieve a top speed of 220km/h (137mph).
The company notes that its restoration division will work upon request on all Mercedes-Benz vehicles from 1953, including the Adenauer, 300SL, 190SL, Heckflosse, Pagoda and SL W107.
