We’re going to take a wild stab in the dark here (…), but for some reason, this new T3 pickup truck from China Hi-Tech Group Corporation (or CHTC) brings to mind the Volkswagen Amarok with a hint of Jetta Mk5 (2005-2010) or Golf Mk5 in the headlights.
CHTC’s website says that the company is a wholly state-owned enterprise established in 1998 that currently employs 50,000 people and has 18 direct subsidiary companies located in more than 20 provinces in China and 20 countries and regions worldwide.
Evidently, the company’s automotive design division must be understaffed as aside from the new T3, the Chinese brand also produces the T1, which you or may not notice the similarities with a certain truck that goes by the name Chevrolet Colorado Mk1.
The T3, which is pictured here at the Changchun Automotive Test Center, will be offered with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine sourced from Mitsubishi.
