BMW‘s first ever production Z model is turning 25 this year and to celebrate the occasion, the official Z1 Club is organizing a special tour from June 2 to 9, the main highlight of which will be a visit to the BMW Group’s facilities in Munich on Friday, June 8.

Throughout the day, the hundred or so Z1 models owned by participants from across Europe and the USA will go on show in front of the BMW Museum

Owners of the Bavarian roadster model will be treated to a tour of the BMW Museum and the BMW Group Classic collection, which is not open to the public.

Perhaps more importantly, they will also visit the Z1’s birthplace at the BMW Technik GmbH facility in Munich, where they will have the opportunity to meet and talk to staff who were involved in the roadster’s development at the time.

The Z1 was presented at the 1987 Frankfurt Motor Show and remained in production until 1991, with some 8,000 cars being produced. One of its main highlights were the innovative doors that dropped down into the door sills. It was available exclusively with a 168hp (170PS) 2.5-liter inline-six sourced from E30 325i.
