The third video teaser (see the second one here) for the upcoming 2014 Mazda6 sedan is out and this time we catch a glimpse of the mid-size model’s hindquarters.
Again, as with the previous teasers, the Japanese automaker’s goal is to highlight the similarities to last year’s Takeri design study.
From what we can tell, the production model has ditched the concept’s sleek, pop-out door handles for less fancy but more practical protruding grips, while the tail lamps and the shape of the boot that incorporates a spoiler in its design have been softened down a notch.
Mazda’s chief designer Akira Tamatani had also this to say about the new ‘6’:
“The car’s form manages to convey both a dignified tension and suppleness at the same time, and Soul Red is brilliantly vivid with a deep luster. It’s the way these two elements complement each other which produces the charm of the new Mazda6.”
We’ll remind you that the new Mazda6 is scheduled for a world premiere at the forthcoming Paris Motor Show this fall.
