A new no-cost alloy wheel option that drops CO2 figures on select models and the introduction of two new packages, highlight the upgrades for the new model year version of Citroën’s UK market DS5.
Starting from this month, Citroën is offering buyers of the DS5 Hybrid4 DStyle and DSport versions the no-cost option of downgrading to 17-inch “Houston” alloy wheels. And why is this important, you may ask?
Because the French carmaker claims that the smaller diameter alloy wheels reduce the DS5 Hybrid4’s CO2 emissions from 107g/km to 99g/km and as a result, both models are exempt from the London congestion charge while the BiK tax rate reduces from 12 to 10 percent.
Citroen is also launching the Sport Signature and Dark Sport Signature packs for the diesel-powered DS5 HDi 160 DStyle & DSport models.
Both are priced at £650 and include lowered suspension by 7mm, black door mirrors and grey or black 19-inch ‘Cairns’ alloy wheels for the Sport Signature and Dark Sport Signature respectively.
Other changes for new model year include the addition of the Dark Sport Signature or Sport Signature packages on all DS5 THP 200 versions as standard at no extra cost, while the DS5’s e-HDi 110 Airdream EGS6 powertrain has been renamed e-HDi 115 Airdream EGS6 to reflect a slight increase in power from 111hp to 114hp.
Despite the increase in power, Citroen says that the powertrain’s performance figures, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are unaffected.
