This is it, Hyundai’s ultimate “Zombie Survival Machine”. Following the release of a handful of teaser photos from the development phase earlier today, the South Korean carmaker blew the covers off the customized model at San Diego’s Comic-Con fest.
The Elantra Coupe Zombie Survival Machine is the design work of the creator of “The Walking Dead” comic series Robert Kirkman, with Southern California-based fabricator Design Craft taking the project from paper to reality.
To deal with the flesh-eating zombies of a post-apocalyptic world, the Korean model has received a number of modifications.
Among other standout features of the car is the front-end custom…zombie plow with spikes, armored window coverings, a roof hatch that allows passengers to fight off attacking walkers, a trunk loaded with electric and pneumatic weaponry, front and back end floodlights, spiked all-terrain/rally type tires and a CB radio system.
“Our custom Elantra Coupe Zombie Survival Machine is the ultimate car for The Walking Dead fans and anyone who wants to survive a zombie invasion,” said Steve Shannon, vice president of Marketin for Hyundai Motor America. “We are excited for fans to come and experience the Elantra Coupe and GT in a unique, post-apocalyptic way.”
Those who will attend this week’s Comic-Con festival will be able to get a closer look at the Zombie Survival Machine both inside and out at the Future US booth.
