A pre-production version of the new 2013 SRT Viper rolled its way to Jay Leno’s Garage for a first introduction with the Chrysler Group’s flagship sports car, which was originally unveiled at the New York Auto Show in April and will go on sale later this year.
The reinstated host of The Tonight Show was joined by Beth Paretta, head of director of marketing at SRT, and Mark Trostle, head of SRT design, who talk us through the new Viper.
Being a pilot model, Leno could not drive the car (at least not in the video…) though he did fire up the 640-hp 8.4-liter V10 engine at around 11 minutes and 20 seconds into the clip.
Earlier, Leno had asked Paretta about the car’s price: “What is this, about $110,000 approximately, somewhere in that area?”
Paretta answered: “There are two models. There will be the SRT Viper and this is the SRT Viper GTS and it will be a little more than that. We haven’t announced pricing yet but we will do that probably within the next two months.”
So there you have it. If you haven’t done so already, head past the jump to watch the video.
