The same Volkswagen Golf R Cabriolet test car captured by our scoop photographers last month has now been filmed in and around the Nürburgring.
While the R prototype model appears to be based on the Golf GTI Cabriolet, the distinct wheels and massive disc brakes give it away.
Of course, the most important difference over the GTI variant is the much more powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that delivers 267hp (270PS) and the use of VW’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system, which should allow for a zero to 100km/h (62mph) sprint time in less than 6 seconds.
In production trim, the car will also benefit from a bespoke styling package with different front and rear bumpers, side skirts and twin tail pipes positioned in the center of the rear diffuser – just like the 2011 concept model.
The Golf R Convertible will likely be if not the last, one of the last hurrays for the Mk6, as the seventh generation of the series will make its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show.
