The small family car that defined Dacia after the Renault Group bought out the Romanian brand in 1998 is up for replacement.

Following a handful of spy shots of the second generation of the Dacia Logan, we can now share with you a video of a prototype model undergoing hot weather testing in Spain ahead of its market launch early next year.

What Renault plans to do with the next Logan is to keep it affordable to buy and maintain, and at the same time, bring the car’s looks inside and out as well as its mechanical hardware up to date.

This means that the new Logan will benefit from a more modern engine and transmission lineup that will help improve its fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions.

The small sedan model will also form the base for several other body styles including the Sandero hatchback, Sandero Stepway (faux-crossover), a small pickup truck, an estate and a van.
