According to a new report from Autoweek, the future of the V12 engine under the Daimler nameplate will be left in the hands of Mercedes-Benz’s in-house tuner AMG.
Truth be told, the twelve-cylinder engine has remained a specialty in the market for the past number of years and is present in some the most exclusive high-end vehicles including the Mercedes S65 and even more pronounced in the Pagani Huayra.
As a brand synonymous with specialty performance for both Mercedes and even Pagani engines in recent years, being handed the opportunity to build the largest and most exclusive powerplants in the lineup seems to be a fitting job for the tuning house.
The report notes that the first model to receive the AMG-developed and built V12 is expected to be the next generation of the Mercedes-Benz S600 limousine, slated for the 2014 model year.
