Cue the ominous music; one of the most highly anticipated new models to make its way from Detroit, the upcoming 2014MY Chevrolet C7 Corvette, will soon enter production.
Although we’ve seen it speculatively animated and spied, Chevrolet has been tight lipped on any details regarding the future model before what we expect to be a 2013 Detroit Auto Show revealing.
To cloak the seventh generation of the famed nameplate in even more secrecy, a new report indicates that starting September 14, GM will be shutting down their Bowling Green assembly plant in Kentucky to outside visitors.
The factory tours, which provide a sufficient revenue to GM, draw nearly 40,000 to 50,000 visitors every year.
In order to secure production of the new Corvette along with 250 jobs installing new equipment, GM has invested $131 million (€104 million) into production line machinery and wants to ensure no details on the upcoming model are released earlier than desired.
So far, no word on when the factory will re-open to the general public.
