From 1985 to 1992, secret agent MacGyver was able to save the world some 139 times (that’s the number of the TV series‘ episodes) using nothing more than everyday materials and of course, his trusty Swiss Army knife and duct tape.

Two decades after the action-adventure television series ended, Angus MacGyver, played by Richard Dean Anderson, may have lost his famous blonde mullet but his skills remain in demand.

This time, it’s not the [fictional] Phoenix Foundation that needs his help but Mercedes-Benz, which has hired Anderson to reprise his famous role as MacGyver to promote the new 2013 Citan van.

The maverick problem-solver will play a pivotal role in Mercedes-Benz’s new advertising campaign for the Citan, which includes a teaser trailer that you can watch in the video after the jump and new web-episodes that will be available from September 18.

The Citan, which is based on the Renault Kangoo van, will be revealed to the public for the first time at Frankfurt’s IAA International Commercial Vehicle Show in September 2012.
