The new Impreza-based Subaru XV Crosstrek will soon go on sale in the United States with a starting MSRP of $21,995 for the Premium and $24,495 for the better equipped Limited edition, excluding a destination fee (*) that will cost you an additional $795.
Regardless of the trim level, the 2013 XV Crosstrek is offered exclusively with a 2.0-liter boxer engine rated at 148-horses that’s matched to a standard five-speed manual gearbox or an Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) that’s optional on the Premium and standard on the Limited.
Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system comes as standard on all models.
Compared to the regular Impreza hatchback and aside from the tougher looks thanks to the bespoke front and rear bumpers and the protective plastic cladding, the XV Crosstrek rides on a jacked up suspension that offers 8.7 inches of ground clearance and a new set of 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped around 225/55 R17 all-season tires.
