Just the other day, we posted the first spy shots of the redesigned 2014 model year Bentley Continental Spur. The white-colored prototype model featured in those pictures was fitted with a tweaked version of the British firm’s 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W12 engine.
Now, our spies have sent us a new set of images of a dark grey test car that is believed to be equipped with the Audi-sourced 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 found on the base versions of the refreshed Continental GT coupe and Continental GTC convertible models.
Since you may be wondering how we can tell the difference between the W12 and V8 powered models, we’ll let you in on a little Bentley secret.
Whereas the W12 models sport an oval-shaped tailpipe on either corner of the bumper, the eight-cylinder models get twin exhausts on both sides forming the shape of the number 8. This can be seen in these pictures of the Bentley Continental GT V8 and Continental GT V12.
The V8 on the sedan version of the Continental series will likely produce the same output of 500hp (507PS) and peak torque of 660Nm (487 lb-ft) as it does on the two-door models.
And before you cry ‘Mercedes-Benz S-Class’, learn that as with the W12 test car, the V8 model is also wearing a deceiving body kit with faux wheel arches and front and rear ends to hide the true styling changes underneath.
