Not to miss out on the electric car fad, Citroën is presenting a new take in the segment with a conceptual version of its DS3 supermini at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
The not-too-brightly named DS3 Electrum might look like a regular model on the outside but under the hood, it replaces the internal combustion engine with a pair of 65kW 87Hp) electric motors.
Also included in the package are a Panasonic 17.5kWh lithium-ion battery and a charging socket located under the fuel flap for connecting to quick charging stations.
The French carmaker says the zero-emissions model has a driving range of up to 75miles (120 km). It’s batteries can be charged to approximately 80 per cent in just 30 minutes.
According to Citroen, the electric drivetrain has been designed to keep cabin and boot space intact and it can be used to ‘electrify’ a variety of existing internal-combustion vehicles.
